The backbone of safety and efficacy of ship operations rests on the people manning and operating the ships. It is our commitment that only the best trained talent is selected and retained to provide optimum service on board our managed vessels to achieve customer delight.

As per statutory requirements, it is verified that all seafarers possess the required qualifications for their positions, have adequate experience, are medically fit and trained as per the Company training matrix. During initial selection and further career development in the Company, performance, past records on ongoing training progress are verified to ensure the seafarer is fit for the intended tasks.

 TRAINING

The Company has established training systems driven by its Policies and Objectives under the Safety/Quality management systems (MMS) meeting ISM and ISO requirements. The training activities planned meet and/or exceed requirements of SOLAS, STCW, MARPOL and MLC (of ILO) conventions to incorporate environmental issues, occupational health, general safety requirements, developing accepted industry best practices in navigation, personal and behaviour based safeties. Through these efforts, the Company aims to promote both the awareness of safety and actions required to ensure safe and effective operations by the sea and shore staff.

The Company has a dedicated training department to ensure that both seafarers and those working ashore get trained as per the above objectives in an ongoing manner using both internal management systems and external information to develop best practices.

The Company has established a training unit in Manila (Philippines), Mumbai (India) and Qingdao (China) with dedicated trainers who are actively supported by the head of training based in Singapore. Additional training activities are conducted at Jakarta and New Delhi as and when needed.

The Company also uses reputed external training establishments to support the above activities.
